FIGLIO ANNOUNCES 2022 FIELD HOCKEY SCHEDULE

FULL 2022 SCHEDULE

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University head field hockey coach Carli Figlio announced the program's 2022 schedule on Wednesday.

Nine of the team's 19 games will be held at So Sweet A Cat Field including three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) matchups. The Hawks will also battle against five squads that competed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament throughout the course of the season.

"We are incredibly excited to play our most competitive schedule to date," Figlio said. "Starting off against some of the strongest competition in the country will allow us to prepare for our first season in the CAA."

Monmouth's first game of the season will be on the road against Lafayette on August 17. MU will travel back to Pennsylvania four days later on August 21 to square off against Temple before returning to West Long Branch for the home opener against Fairfield on August 26.

Following a road tilt against UConn on August 28, the Hawks will compete in their first CAA game when Delaware visits on September 4. The Blue Hens won their eighth CAA Championship in nine years last season, downing top-seeded James Madison by a score of 3-1 in the finals to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell in the first round after an opening round triumph over Fairfield.

The Hawks will play host to the team that knocked the Blue Hens out of the tournament on September 9 when in-state rival Rutgers comes to town before closing out its three-game homestand on September 11 against Syracuse. Both the Scarlet Knights and Orange made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021. MU will play one final tournament team on September 16 when it travels to Harvard. The Crimson were one of the final four teams last season, ultimately falling to Northwestern in overtime, 2-1.

Monmouth will host additional non-conference matches against Wagner (Sept. 25), Sacred Heart (Oct. 2), and Princeton (Oct. 5). It will also welcome two more CAA opponents in William & Mary (Sept. 30) and Towson (Oct. 23) to So Sweet A Cat Field during the season.

Four teams will make it to the CAA Tournament, which will be held at Rullo Stadium in Newark, Del. The semifinals will take place on November 4 with the finals slated for November 6.
