EDISON, N.J. – Hope Steuerwald and
Shannon Feeley of the Monmouth women's lacrosse team received MAAC weekly honors on Monday afternoon.
Â
Following a 2-0 week for the Hawks, Steuerwald was named the MAAC's Offensive Player of the Week, while Feeley earned the defensive player of the week nod.
Â
Steuerwald had herself a week after posting a pair of seven-point contests. She opened the week with a seven-goal outing in the Hawks' 18-12 road win at Columbia on Tuesday. Her seven goals were a career-best mark and tied for the second-most scored by a Monmouth player in a single game in program history.
Â
The senior attack followed that performance with another seven-goal game in a 13-10 road victory at Sacred Heart over the weekend. Steuerwald became the first player in program history to record back-to-back outings with seven or more goals scored.
Â
Feeley got it done on the defensive end for the Hawks as she logged a career-high seven ground balls in the win against Columbia. The Parkton, Md., native also added four caused turnovers opposite the Lions, tying her career-best mark.
Â
Monmouth returns to action tonight when the Hawks take on Harvard at 6 p.m. in Jacksonville, Fla.
