RADFORD, VA. – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team outlasted Radford, 16-15, in a back-and-forth contest on Sunday afternoon.
Monmouth improved to 7-4 on the season with the victory, using a dominant third quarter and a late goal to secure the win.
Shea Berigan scored three goals to surpass 100 scores in her career, while
Brooke Lacey,
Olivia Castaldo and
Grace Curtin each tallied a hat trick to pace the Monmouth offense.
Lauren Rismani totaled a team-high five assists and
Katie Sullivan made 10 saves to earn the win in goal.
The Hawks jumped out to a fast start, scoring six times in the opening period behind multiple goals from Berigan and Lacey to take a 6-4 lead after one.
Radford responded in the second quarter, outscoring Monmouth 5-2 to take a 9-8 lead into halftime.
Monmouth seized control out of the break with its strongest stretch of the game, netting seven third-quarter goals. Castaldo, Curtin and Lymberis all contributed during the run as the Hawks built a 15-11 advantage heading into the final period.
The Highlanders mounted a late comeback, scoring four straight goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 15-15 with just over eight minutes to play.
Curtin delivered the decisive moment for the Hawks, finishing off a feed from Rismani with 3:32 remaining to give Monmouth a 16-15 lead it would not relinquish, thanks in part to a last-minute save from Sullivan.

- Sophia Lymberis recorded two scores, her second straight game with multiple points.
- Lymberis has points in 10 of 11 games this season.
- Cara Major scored her third goal of the year and first since Feb. 22 against Youngstown State.
- Allyson Ryan added her eighth goal of the season, adding to her career-best season.
- Ryan had a career-best nine draw controls, while Sophia Ianno had seven.
- Katie Sullivan made 10 saves, marking her sixth game this season with double-digit saves and third in a row.
