EDISON, N.J. – Freshman
Caroline Brennan of the Monmouth women's lacrosse team was named the MAAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Â
Brennan is the first Monmouth player to earn two weekly awards in the same week from the MAAC. She is also the first Hawk to receive rookie of the week recognition since
Nicole Ceraso '21 did in 2017.
Â
The first-year attack had herself a collegiate debut, posting a nine-point outing on six goals and three assists in a 21-2 home win over Central Connecticut State. She added two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers to her stat line.
Â
Her nine points are tied for the fifth-most recorded by a Hawk in single game program history, while her six goals are tied for the 10th-most scored by a Monmouth player in a single game in program history.
Â
Brennan's offensive output helped Monmouth record the most goals scored in a season opener in program history.
Â
Brennan and the Hawks return to action on Saturday when they take on LIU on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y. Â
