Lauren Rismani had seven points in the first half for the Hawks

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.  – The Monmouth women's lacrosse team turned in its best offensive performance of the season, defeating Rider, 17-8, on Wednesday afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Lauren Rismani, one of twelve goal scorers for the Hawks against the Broncs, had another career day, scoring three goals and adding four assists, all in the opening 30 minutes of the game. Shea Berigan netted her team-leading 17th and 18th goals of the season, while Allyson Ryan scored a pair for the second multi-point game of the season.

Sophomore Emma Kelly scored the first two goals of her career on Wednesday, while Chloe Wiese and Lily Gomes each found the back of the net for the first time in their careers.

In net for the Hawks, Katie Sullivan made six saves and allowed just three goals, playing the first half, while Gia Mitchell saved six-of-11 shots in the second half.

The Hawks grabbed control early, scoring five times in the first quarter. Sophia Lymberis struck first with a free-position strike just over six minutes into the game, but the Broncs quickly tied it, 1-1. Strikes from Shea Berigan, Olivia Castaldo, Grace Curtin and Emma Kelly gave Monmouth a 5–1 advantage after the first quarter.

Berigan added her second goal of the contest to open the second period before Rismani tacked on four points in the stanza, including a pair of goals and two assists. All told, Monmouth poured in six second-quarter goals to balloon its lead to 11–3 at the half.

Rider responded after the break with a couple of scores, but Marlaina Grimm, Chloe Wiese and Julia West all found the back of the net in the third quarter, maintaining the Hawks' comfortable cushion at 14–5 going into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Monmouth continued to extend its advantage. Kelly added her second of the day, while Lily Gomes netted a pair to cap off the scoring for the Hawks and guide the visitors to their fifth victory of the season.
