EAST MEADOW, NY – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up their fall semester competition at the 2022 ECAC Winter Championship at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
The men's team placed in third of 11 competing teams, while the women finished fifth overall out of 15. A total of seven team records fell at the meet for Monmouth, while the Hawks also had two first-place finishes and
Callan Smith broke his own ECAC Championship record in the 200-yard backstroke for the second straight year.
Competing teams included Columbia, UMBC, Saint Peter's, LIU, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, Stony Brook, Siena, Sacred Heart, Marist, Manhattan, Lehman, Felician, Baruch, Salem, Adelphi and Stonehill.

FRIDAY EVENTS
- The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team placed third and broke a school record as
Alexandra Ho,
Edie Ancell,
Jenna Pryne and
Camryn McHugh clocked in at 1:34.96. Their record-breaking time was nearly two seconds faster than the previous Monmouth record set in 2018.

Cole Dyson placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:33.61.

Callan Smith set a new Monmouth record in the 200-yard IM with his fourth-place time of 1:51.45. Smith broked Hunter Klingener's record set in 2020.
- The men's 400-yard medley relay team finished third as
Callan Smith,
Sean Cook,
Blake Reynolds and
Thomas Svane-From finished in 3:20.66.
SATURDAY EVENTS
- Monmouth's men took third in the 200-yard medley relay and set a new school record in the process.

Owen Dyson finished in 1:30.13.
- Freshman
Bailey Rynkiewicz set and broke her own school record in the 400 IM. Rynkiewicz swam 4:37.11 in the prelims before finishing in 4:36.31 in the B-Final on Saturday night.

Camryn McHugh placed third in the 100-yard backstroke when she hit the wall in 55.93.

Callan Smith took second place in the 100-yard backstroke with his time of 48.23.
- The men finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay with

Thomas Svane-From posting a time of 6:47.06.
SUNDAY EVENTS

Cole Dyson broke his own Monmouth school record in the 1650-yard freestyle with his first-place time of 15:49.85. Dyson was nearly five seconds faster than his time set at the ECAC Championships in 2021. Dyson added another school record swim when he finished the first 1000 of the race in 9:33.31. Dyson won his second race of the season and the 14th of his career.

Callan Smith won the 200-yard backstroke and broke his own ECAC record with his time of 1:45.55. Smith won his 10th race of the season and the 83rd of his career.
- The men's 400-yard freestyle relay finished third with a time of 3:02.93.

Monmouth's next competition is scheduled for January 14 as the women's team faces Stony Brook and the men challenge NJIT on Long Island.
