WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - Monmouth University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Brian Fisher has announced the team's captains for the upcoming 2023 season. Ryan Morris, Cade Stratton and Matt Soutar will serve as captains for the Hawks.
 
Morris and Stratton have been selected captains for the second straight season, while Soutar carries the captain title for the first time.

"Here at the shore, we are looking forward to the challenges ahead in the 2023 season as we enter the CAA and we are excited to have Ryan, Cade and Matt lead our team this spring season," Fisher said. "They each bring different leadership styles to our program and all share a competitive drive on the field that will help us navigate the ebbs and flow throughout the season and our team's development."
 
Morris started all 12 games on defense for the Hawks in 2022 and totaled 22 ground balls with six caused turnovers en route to earning the Team Leadership Award and his third straight MAAC All-Academic Team honor.

Stratton started 11 games on attack a year ago and led Monmouth with 10 assists. Stratton also scored nine times, good for third on the team, and he enters the 2023 season with 33 career assists, which ranks third in team history. His 74 career points are fourth in the Monmouth record book.

Soutar is the program's all-time leader in faceoff win percentage at 59 percent for his career and is first all-time with 166 ground balls. A two-time Second Team All-MAAC choice, Soutar also is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree. Last year Soutar set the single-season program record with 79 ground balls and won 52 percent of his faceoffs.
