WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Five members of the Monmouth University softball team earned All-MAAC honors, the conference announced Friday. In addition, head coach Shannon Salsburg was named MAAC Coach of the Year.
 
Senior Alyssa Irons (Rock Creek, OH/Jefferson Area/Hofstra), senior Katie Harrington (Kasson, MN/Kasson-Mantorville), and junior Lindsey Baron (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) were all named to the All-MAAC First Team, while senior Erika Coreth (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) and freshman Julia Thuer (Middletown, DE/Smyrna) were tabbed All-MAAC Second Team. Thuer was also the lone unanimous selection to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
 
Salsburg led Monmouth to a 25-7 (25-7 MAAC) record and the program's third consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship. She wins MAAC Coach of the Year for the second time (2018).
 
Irons compiled a 15-4 record with a MAAC-leading 1.43 ERA. She was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week four times during the season. Irons threw 13 complete games, including three shutouts. The senior struck out 106 batters and held opponents to a .187 batting average.
 
Harrington is in the midst of the best season of her career, leading the team with a .412 batting average, 40 hits, and 32 runs. The left fielder hit four doubles and a triple, and ended the regular season with 11 runs batted in.  
 
Baron started all 32 games at shortstop, ending the regular season with a .296 batting average, four home runs, 20 RBI, and 30 runs. The junior also walked 10 times and went 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.
 
Coreth led the team with five home runs and ranked seventh in the MAAC with 27 runs batted in. The catcher started all 32 games and put up a .361 batting average. Coreth also added five doubles, 23 runs, and 15 walks on the season.
 
Thuer started all 32 regular season games in her first year, batting .323 with 27 RBI, which ranked second on the team and sixth in the conference. Thuer led the MAAC in walks with 23. The freshman added 10 doubles, four home runs, and 21 runs. She was named MAAC Rookie of the Week three times in addition to one Player of the Week honor.
