TRIO REPRESENTS MONMOUTH ON ALL-REGION SECOND TEAM

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Three Monmouth University women's soccer student-athletes, Sarina Jones, Lauren Karabin and Jesi Rossman were named to the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-Atlantic Region Second Team.

"This is a terrific accomplishment for our program, and in particular these three players," head coach Krissy Turner said. "They are among the elite with this recognition and we couldn't be happier for them."

The Atlantic Region includes teams from the America East Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Monmouth was the lone MAAC team with representatives on the All-Region teams. The honors are the first all-region recognitions for Jones, Karabin and Rossman.

Jones, the MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, led Monmouth's defense that posted five shutouts in nine matches, all of which she started. The senior also scored a goal and added an assist in the Hawks' win over Iona to start the year and assisted Lauren Karabin's game-winning goal in the MAAC quarterfinal victory over Niagara.

Karabin was named the MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year after she led the Hawks with nine points on the season, including three goals and three assists. She played all but 31 minutes on the year and scored two of her three goals in the MAAC Tournament. Both of her postseason goals were game-winning scores against Niagara and Quinnipiac.

Rossman was named to the All-MAAC Team and played all over the pitch in 2020-21. She started all eight games she played in, and scored goals against Canisius and at Siena. She was a key piece in four shutout wins as she split time between the back line, midfielder and forward positions.

United Soccer Coaches, formerly the NSCAA, was founded in 1941 and is the largest community for soccer coaches in the world. United Soccer Coaches unites coaches of all levels around the love of the game and elevates the game through advocacy, education and service.
