WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth women's soccer team clinched the top seed in the CAA North Division on Sunday with a 0-0 draw at home against Northeastern, earning a first-round bye in next week's CAA Tournament. The Hawks had 32 shots in their final contest of the 2025 regular season but were unable to find the back of the net.
With the result, combined with Stony Brook's 3-2 defeat to Hofstra, the Hawks clinch a No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the second year in a row and the third time in four years since joining the conference prior to the 2022 season
The Monmouth offense came out firing from the opening whistle, tallying nine shots in the first 16 minutes, forcing three saves. The Hawks finished the first half with 17 attempts, three of which challenged Northeastern keeper Eliza Teplow. The Monmouth defense, which earned its seventh shutout of the season, held the Huskies to just one off-target attempt in the opening 45 minutes.
It was more of the same in the second half, as the Hawks continued to apply pressure, placing eight of its 16 second-half shots on net. Between the 64
th and 74
th minutes, the Hawks forced five saves from Teplow, but were still searching for the game's first goal. The Hawks put three more shots on net in the final seven minutes, but settled for the scoreless draw.
As the North Division's top seed, the Hawks will have a bye to the conference semifinals and will host the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal between No. 2 Stony Brook and No. 3 Hofstra on Sunday at 1 p.m.

- The 33 shots were the most by the Hawks this season having 33 attempts in a 4-0 victory over Stonehill on Sept. 18, 2022.
- The 33 shots are Monmouth's most ever in a conference game since joining the CAA prior to the 2022 season.
- In her third start of the season, netminder Alex Scott made one save and earned her second clean sheet of the season
- Through two games, Scott has conceded just once and made nine saves.
- Summer Reimet had a game-high 11 shots, while Ashley Lavrich had seven of her own.
