WEXFORD, PA - After clinching its second straight America East Regular Season Championship, the program's seventh straight conference regular season crown, the Monmouth University field hockey team landed in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches Poll coming in at No. 20, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Winners of six straight, the Hawks make their first appearance in the coaches' poll this season and match the program's highest ranking ever. MU earned a 4-3 victory over UC Davis on neutral ground to enter the postseason 9-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.
Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) scored a pair of goals while
Aly Perez (Fairfax, VA/ South County) and
Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany/ Gymnasium Eppendorf) each found the back of the cage in the win. The Hawks have outscored opponents 18-6 over the six-game win streak.
Monmouth, the top seed in the America East Championship, will begin its championship quest against fourth-seeded UMass Lowell on Thursday, April 24
th at noon on So Sweet A Cat Field.
