WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Fifth year senior Sergio Martinez (Veracruz, Mexico/Bachillerato IEDEP) of the Monmouth University men's tennis team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, the league announced this afternoon.
 
Martinez went 2-0 at No. 5 singles, and went 1-1 at No. 1 doubles last weekend. He defeated Delaware in singles play 6-4, 6-7, 10-3, then won 6-4, 6-3 against Bucknell. He teamed up with Max Benaim to win 6-4 over Delaware in doubles.
 
Martinez wins the award for the first time in his career.
 
The Hawks return to action this Friday at Villanova.
