MONMOUTH BASEBALL INKS SEVEN TO NLI’S

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball and Head Coach Dean Ehehalt have announced the signings of seven players to the program for the fall of 2022. MU inks four pitchers, an infielder, an outfielder and a catcher as part of this class.
 
"We are extremely pleased to welcome this group of fine young men to our program" said Ehehalt. "This class will make an immediate impact on the field.  Our coaching staff is excited to get these guys on campus next fall."
 
The Hawks welcome in two right-handed pitchers in David Horvath and Tyler Mullen as well as a pair of left-handers in Jimmy Wigo and Caden Carlin. Monmouth also adds infielder Matthew Scrivanic, outfielder Aidan Bretschneider and catcher Joey DeMucci.
 
Aidan Bretschneider
Outfield | Philadelphia, PA | LaSalle
 
Aidan Bretschneider joins MU from Philadelphia, where he played the outfield at LaSalle under Coach Kyle Werman. While there, he helped his team to a pair of titles, including the PCL championship and the 6A state championship. He also competed for Baseball U and was an All-Tournament team selection at Perfect Game events three times, including twice in 2020 and once in 2021.
 
Caden Carlin
Left Handed Pitcher | Ridley Park, PA | Friends Central School
 
Caden Carlin is a southpaw from Pennsylvania, where he competed at Friends Central under Jon Rubin. On the mound, Carlin was ranked as a top-100 PA player by PBR. Three times Carlin earned All-Tournament team honors at Perfect Game events, including at the 2021 17U Super25 Northeast Super Qualifier.

Joey DeMucci
Catcher | Swarthmore, PA | Monsignor Bonner

Joey DeMucci is a catcher from Swarthmore, PA where he caught at Monsignor Bonner under Steve DeBarbarie. An All-Catholic League and All-Delco selection, DeMucci helped his team to both a city championship and a district title in his time. He also competed at Zoom Baseball Academy.
 
David Horvath
Right Handed Pitcher | Boonton, NJ | Mountain Lakes
 
David Horvath is a pitcher from Boonton, NJ, and pitched at Mountain Lakes under Kevin Wallace. As a junior, Horvath earned First Team All-Conference honors after the 2021 campaign. He was one of three Mountain Lakes players that earned 2021 All NJAC-Independence First team accolades. Horvath was named a 2021 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American in 2021.
 
Tyler Mullen
Right Handed Pitcher | Scott Twp., PA | Lakeland Jr./Sr. High School
 
Tyler Mullen pitched at Lakeland Jr./Sr. High School under Larry Piccini. A multiple time selection to Perfect Game All-Tournament teams, Mullen was also an All-Conference honoree at Lakeland. Mullen also competed for the Northeast Pride under Joe Curreri.
 
Matthew Scrivanic
Infielder | Tinton Falls, NJ | Red Bank Catholic
 
Matthew Scrivanic is a local product, competing at nearby Red Bank Catholic under Buddy Haussman. The infielder hit .306 for RBC in 2021, earning him All-Division honors. He helped the Caseys to a 24-5-1 record and Shore Conference title, as well as a division championship. Scrivanic also competes for the 9ers Baseball Club.
 
Jimmy Wigo
Left Handed Pitcher | Broomall, PA | Marple Newtown
 
Jimmy Wigo pitched at Marple Newtown in Pennsylvania under Coach Rick Zimmerman, where he was Second Team All-League as a junior. He helped his teams to consecutive records of 23-3 and 24-4 while earning a 16U World Series Cy Young Award. Wigo also pitched for Bellringers Baseball.
