BUFFALO, NY – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams completed competition this weekend at the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College.

Both teams improved their conference standings by moving up one spot from last year and earned their highest ever finishes at the championships. The men's team placed fifth with 375 points, up 105 points from last year, while the women's team took sixth overall with 373.5 points, nearly 100 points better than 2019.

Individually, Monmouth had a record five individual MAAC Champions as Callan Smith won two events, and Blake Reynolds,
Tahlia Botha and
Camryn McHugh each secured gold medals.

Botha was named the MAAC Swimming Rookie of the Meet after her victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, her silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke and her third-place finish in the 200 IM.

WEDNESDAY EVENTS
- The men's 200-yard medley relay team placed third and broke a school record as Callan Smith, Trevor Askew, Blake Reynolds and Valance Washington clocked in at 1:30.42.

- The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team also broke the school record as
Alexandra Ho,
Camryn McHugh,
Sarah Brennan and
Louise Barker finished with a time of 7:41.21, good for fourth place.

- The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team set a new team record as Callan Smith, Trevor Askew, Thomas From and Dylan Edge clocked in with a time of 6:45.22, finishing in sixth place.

THURSDAY EVENTS
- Blake Reynolds won the men's 50-yard freestyle with a program record time of 20.44. Reynolds finished four tenths of a second ahead of second place.

Alexandra Ho won bronze in the women's 50-yard freestyle with her Monmouth record time of 23.72.

Tahlia Botha also took third in the 200-yard IM, clocking in with a school record time of 2:06.52.

Louise Barker set Monmouth's 500-yard freestyle record when she touched the wall in 5:07.78 in the prelims. Barker took eighth in the A-Final on Thursday night.
- Hunter Klingener set a new Monmouth record in the 200 IM when he clocked in at 1:52.00.
- Callan Smith placed fifth in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:28.71.
- The men's 200-yard freestyle relay broke the program record when Blake Reynolds, Valance Washington, Dylan Barkhuizen and Thomas From finished in 1:23.20.
FRIDAY EVENTS
- Callan Smith won the second gold medal of his career as he broke the Monmouth record with a time of 47.86 in the men's 100-yard backstroke.

Camryn McHugh won silver in two events with a pair of school record times. McHugh was second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.86) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.33).

Tahlia Botha secured a silver medal in the women's 100-yard breaststroke with a Monmouth record time of 1:04.21.

Alexandra Ho (1:54.10) took fourth in the women's 200-yard freestyle.
- Trevor Askew and Austin D'Angelo finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the men's 100-yard breaststroke. D'Angelo set the school record in the prelims with his time of 56.13.

Maggie McMillan (57.88) placed seventh in the women's 100-yard backstroke.
- Monmouth's women set a new program record in the 400-yard medley relay.

Bradie Keelen clocked in at 3:52.61.
- The men also set a Monmouth record in the 400 medley relay as Callan Smith, Austin D'Angelo, Blake Reynolds and Valance Washington combined for a time of 3:20.55.
SATURDAY EVENTS
- Callan Smith set a new MAAC record (1:43.92) in the 200-yard backstroke. It was Smith's second gold medal of the championships, third of his career and an NCAA B-Cut time. Dylan Edge (1:49.08) took fifth in the same event to earn 14 points for the Hawks.

Camryn McHugh won the gold medal in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.48) and broke her own school record and
Maggie McMillan placed fourth (2:04.20).
- Valance Washington (45.50) and Thomas From (45.97) finished sixth and eight, respectively in the 100-yard freestyle. Washington set a new Monmouth record with his time.

Tahlia Botha (2:18.15) won gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a new program record time. She finished more than four seconds faster than second place.
- Trevor Askew (2:03.70) placed seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn 12 points for Monmouth. Hunter Klingener won the B-Final of the same event when he touched the wall in 2:03.59.
- Dylan Edge took sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.91).
- Monmouth's women set a new program record and took home bronze medals in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
