AUSTIN, TX-Â Monmouth University graduate student
Allie Wilson finished 5th overall in the 800-meter finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. With her school record breaking time of 2:02.56, she received her second 1
st Team All-American honor.Â
Â
"Allie was super strong again today in a high stakes environment," said head coach
Joe Compagni. "With Coach Tarello's guidance, she has been an amazing representative of Monmouth and a great example of what can be done here."
Â
In the overall standings, the Monmouth women finished with 4 points, which is good enough to tie for 48th in the country.. This performance just missed having the highest ever finish for a female Hawk at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as Tisifinee Taylor finished 4
th in the long jump at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wilson does become the highest finisher, male or female, in a track event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Â
A three-time honoree, Wilson finishes her Monmouth career as the only female athlete to be named an All-American more than once. She is also the first female Hawk to be named a 1
st Team All-American more than once and is the first female to receive 1
st Team All-American honors at the Outdoor Championships since Taylor at the 2006 Outdoor Championships. She was a 2
nd Team All-American at the 2018 Outdoor Championships and was a 1
stTeam All-American after finishing 4
th overall at the 2019 Indoor Championships. She also currently holds the school for both the indoor and outdoor 800 meters.Â
Â
While today marked the official end of the collegiate season, Wilson and other current and former Hawks may compete in July at the U.S. National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
