POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The No. 2 seed Monmouth University softball team will face No. 3 Siena in its first action of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. The game is scheduled to start at 11:30 AM on the campus on Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Earlier this season, the Hawks swept the Saints, 1-0 and 2-1. Monmouth won its first-ever conference tournament championship in 2018 and made it to the championship game the three years prior.

HAWKS AGAINST THE FIELD
Monmouth went 7-3 against the tournament field during the regular season. The Hawks swept Siena, Niagara, and Fairfield. Marist took both, while Iona split.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Monmouth was named the Co-Regular Season Champions after finishing 16-4 in league play. Marist secured the No. 1 seed with the tiebreaker. The Hawks have earned their most wins in a single season since 1999.

Alyssa Irons has thrown 238.1 innings so far this season, which ranks second all-time behind
Amanda Riley (248.1) . She shattered the program record for wins in a single season (27) after moving past leader DonÂna Witt (22). Irons has 215 strikeouts and 32 starts, both of which rank third in program history.

SUPER FRESHMAN
Freshman
Lindsey Baron made an immediate splash during her first season in West Long Branch. She increased her program record for doubles in a season to 21. The previous mark was 17, set by Heather Gordon in 2007. She also moved into 5th all-time with 48 runs scored. She ranks 4th all-time with 11 home runs in a season.

NATIONAL NOTICE
Heading into the MAAC Tournament, the Hawks ranked top-20 nationally in four categories. They ranked 17th with a .974 fielding percentage, and 21st in shutouts (14), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.41), and triples per game (0.29).
