FIGLIO ROUNDS OUT FIELD HOCKEY COACHING STAFF

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Head Monmouth University field hockey coach Carli Figlio has announced the additions of David Williamson and Chris Tyrrell to her coaching staff for the upcoming season.  The duo joins former Hawk standout Alyssa Ercolino, who joined the staff in July.

"I'm beyond excited to welcome this fantastic staff that brings such a wealth of knowledge and passion for developing our student-athletes, "said Figlio.  "The combination of high-level coaching and focus on making this team the best it can be has brought a great energy to MUFH."

Williamson, who was a volunteer assistant for Figlio for five seasons from 2008-2012, returns to West Long Branch after spending the last five years on the Princeton sideline, including its Final Four run in 2016.  Williamson brings a wealth of knowledge both internationally and stateside having been involved in the Ireland National team and currently with US Field Hockey, while also helping guide the Tigers to five-straight NCAA appearances.  The 2002 graduate of University of Ulster worked as a events consultant for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, focusing on the goalkeepers that saw action in back-to-back FIH Hockey World Tournaments.  With Monmouth, Williamson will serve the goalkeeping coach while helping Figlio in all aspects of the program.

Tyrrell, who has USA Field Hockey Level II certification, joins the staff as a volunteer.  He previously coached Trinity College Dublin and Pembroke Wanderers in his native Ireland as well as his home province of Leinster at under 21 level. Most recently, Tyrrell has been based in Vancouver, Canada where he has been working with British Columbia's provincial teams at U15 and U18 levels. In addition Tyrrell also coached the VRC Jokers senior ladies team while playing for its men's side.

The Hawks, who were selected to claim their fifth-straight regular season title, begins the 2018 campaign at Saint Joseph's on Friday, August 24th at 4 p.m.
