WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams fell to MAAC foe Iona on Friday afternoon at Steadman Natatorium, before the men knocked off St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon at the St. Francis Aquatics Center.
The men defeated the Terriers 175-87, and lost to Iona and holds a 5-1 record on the season. The women's team dropped both team competitions this weekend.
Freshmen
Callan Smith broke three team records in the Iona meet as he won the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle races and then set a new team standard in the 100 back on Saturday.

"The team competed well in the back to back dates of competition. This is important in our preparation for the upcoming ECAC Championships where we will be racing multiple events over three days. It also will help reinforce that the work being put in during the first semester will result in a successful championship meet as we build toward the MAAC Championships in February."

- Freshman Camryn McHugh won two races against Iona (100 fly, 200 back) and two races at St. Francis (100 back, 200 back) to increase her season total to 13 individual wins.
- Rookie Lauren Baines won one race in each meet. She won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.40) against Iona and the 400-yard IM at St. Francis (4.47.92). She has four victories in her freshman campaign.
- Jaclyn Greening won her first race of 2018 with a time of 1:09.81 in the 100-yard breaststroke against Iona. It was her third-career victory.
- McHugh, Greening, Sarah Brennan and Bradie Keelan won the 200-yard medley relay against Iona. Keelan and Brennan combined with Muriel Maloney and Alyssa Cherubino to win the 200-yard free relay on Saturday.
- Freshman
Dylan Barkhuizen won his sixth event of the year with his 100-yard butterfly time of 52.95 on Saturday at St. Francis.

Valance Washington's win in the 100-yard freestyle race at St. Francis was the third win of his rookie season. He touched the wall in 49.14.
- Sophomore
Ethan Lucas won the 50-yard freestyle on both days. Lucas has won the 50 free four times this season and he has five-career first-place finishes.
- Rookie
Patrick McAllister won his fifth race of the season on Saturday with his time of 1:48.16 in the 200-yard freestyle.
- Freshman
Nate Heisey took first in the 200-yard breaststroke for his first-career win. He clocked in at 2:18.45 against the Terriers.
- Junior
Austin D'Angelo picked up the sixth individual win over his career by winning the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday (1:02.40). It was his third first-place finish of the season.
- Monmouth's men won the 200-yard medley relay on Friday and the 200-yard freestyle relay Saturday. McAllister, D'Angelo, Barkhuizen and Lucas combined for Friday's victory and Barkhuizen, Smith, McAllister and Lucas swam on Saturday's winning team.
- Freshmen
Callan Smith earned three first-place finishes in each meet. Smith has 14 first-place finishes for the 2018-19 season. Smith set three new team records on Friday in the 100 free (47.69), 200 free (1:43.18) and 500 free (4:39.38). He followed that up on Saturday by winning the 100 back (51.69, team record time), 200 back (1:59.40) and 500 free (4:58.21). Smith now holds team records in the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 free and the 100 back.
Note: All team records recognized are since the reintroduction of the program in 2015.
