CHANDLER, AZ – Monmouth University field hockey forward
Georgia Garden Bachop was one of 38 seniors across the nation selected to participate in the Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior game, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon. Garden Bachop becomes the fourthHawk to be selected to participate in event, joining Michelle Pieczynski (2012) and Casey Hanna and
Alyssa Ercolino (2016).
This year, the Division I Senior Game, which features top senior players in the nation, will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship in Louisville, Kentucky — the Senior Game is currently set for 6:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 16, 2018 following the conclusion of the NCAA semifinal games at the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium.
Garden Bachop is producing her best year to date, leading the Hawks in all offensive statistics. The New Zealand native, who has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks, has registered a career-best and MAAC-leading 29 points on 13 goals to go along with three assists. Garden Bachop has scored in five-straight games and seven of the last eight outings, turning in four multi-goal games during that span. The MAAC Preseason Co-Player of the Year has six game-winning goals to her credit on the year.
"We are very excited that Georgia was recognized for her achievements on the field and will be able to showcase her talents among the nation's best seniors," commented head coach
Carli Figlio.
Garden Bachop and the Hawks will return to the field this Friday, October 19th, for an important MAAC game at Fairfield. Monmouth, which has already claimed at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championships, can clinch the outright title with a victory. Opening whistle is scheduled for 4 p.m.
