EDISON, NJ – Freshman first basemen Kayla Rosado (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office today announced. This is Rosado's first conference honor of her career, as she registered a .571 batting average in four games by going 8-for-14 from the plate.
Rosado hit two doubles during the weekend, picking up an RBI in game two against Siena on Sunday. She had at least two hits in three out of four games, including a 3-for-4 outing in the win at Saint Peter's on Saturday. The freshman walked once, accumulating an on base percentage of .600 and a slugging percentage of .714.
The rookie has started 41 games this season and has appeared in 45. She has racked up 18 RBI, eight doubles, and 33 hits in her freshman campaign.
Rosado and the Hawks welcome non-conference opponent Delaware to MU Softball Park tomorrow. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 PM, and the game is slated to be broadcasted on ESPN3.
