MONMOUTH BASEBALL’S LATE RALLY COMES UP JUST SHORT AT SIENA SUNDAY

Box Score LOUDONVILLE, NY- Monmouth Baseball scored four runs in the ninth inning, including a three-run home run from Dan Shea (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum), but eventually fell 6-5 at Siena on Sunday afternoon. The Saints win two of three games on the weekend.

Siena jumped to a 4-1 lead, with Jordan Bishop singling home the second run in the second before a two-run base hit in the fifth to make it 4-0. MU got a run back in the sixth on a wild pitch, but the Saints added two in the eighth when Zach Durfee doubled to center to make it 6-1.

MU had the first six batters of the ninth inning reach safely, with Shea hitting a three-run homer to cut it to 6-4. After Shea's blast, MU loaded the bases with nobody out, trimming the lead to 6-5 on a fielder's choice. With one away and runners on the corners, Danny Hobbs got Aidan Favia (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) to ground into a double play to end the game.
