WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams secured their first conference victories of the season with wins over Manhattan at Steadman Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
A week after winning their its meet since the reintroduction of the Monmouth swimming programs prior to the 2015-16 seasons, the men's team grabbed its first win against a MAAC opponent. In addition to the women's team beating Manhattan also hosted Siena on Saturday, but fell to the Saints, 175-86.
The Hawks combined to win 12 individual events and two relays on the day, highlighted by a pair of victories by freshman
Ryan Reutti.

"Both teams swam with a lot of energy today. It was the first win of the season for the women and the first MAAC win since the reintroduction of the program for the men. They have shown positive progress and look ready for the ECAC Championships in two weeks. I am excited to see how they perform at ECAC's with some rest after working through the first semester."

- The Hawks won the men's 200-yard medley relay as

Austin D'Angelo,
Hunter Klingener and
Ethan Lucas combined for a finish of 1:39.85.
- Monmouth also won the men's 400-yard freestyle relay as

Tyler Lutter,
Frank Nicola and
Ryan Hohman combined for a time of 3:24.18.

Ryan Reutti won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.71 and the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.89) to increase his season victory total to six.
- Rookie
Hunter Klingener won the men's 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 54.12. Klingener also won the 200-yard IM with his time of 2:00.71 and earned his third individual win of the season.
- Sophomore Jaclyn Greening won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.31. Greening claimed her second individual win of the year.

Austin D'Angelo won his second event of the year, finishing in 1:02.21 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Hunter Klingener took second in the race behind D'Angelo.

Eric Sorensen grabbed his fourth individual victory of the season with his time of 2:04.35 in the 200-yard butterfly.
- Sophomore Mary Emich won her second race of the year with a time of 25.36 in the women's 50-yard freestyle. Bradie Keelen placed second behind Emich in the race.
- Freshman
Ethan Lucas won the men's 50-yard freestyle with his time of 22.45.
- Rookie
Tyler Lutter won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.39. Lutter now has six individual first-place finishes in the 2017-18 season.

Trevor Askew was first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.65. Askew earned his third victory of the year.
- Senior Anne Skimmons placed first in the 200-yard IM (2:18.23) to win her third event of the season.
