NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams fell in a dual meet to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Iona on Friday afternoon at Hynes Athletics Center.
The Hawks finished first in a number of events, including the men's and women's 200-yard freestyle relays. Monmouth had six individual winners as well with Jaclyn Greening winning the 100-yard breaststroke,
Trevor Askew in the 100-yard breaststroke, Alexandra Safarian winning the 100-yard butterfly,
Tyler Lutter in the 100-yard butterfly, Krysta Garcia in the 100 yard IM and
Eric Sorensen taking first in the 100-yard IM.

- Anne Skimmons set the program records in the 500-yard (5:26.93) and 1000-yard freestyle races with a time of 11.01.23.

Tyler Lutter won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.75. Â
- Lutter earned his third individual first-place finish of the 2017-18 season.

Trevor Askew was first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.18.
- Askew's victory was his second individual win of 2017-18.
- Jaclyn Greening touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.84.
- Greening picked up her first individual win of the year.
- Krysta Garcia finished first in the 100-yard IM (1:05.55) to earn her first individual victory of 2017-18.

Eric Sorensen collected his second individual victory of the year with his 57.10 time in the 100-yard IM.
- Alexandra Safarian's 100-yard butterfly time of 1:10.79 was her first individual win of the season.
- Monmouth did not compete in the diving events, where Iona earned points toward their team totals.
