#25 FIELD HOCKEY FALLS AT FAIRFIELD, 3-1

FAIRFIELD, CT –  Despite outshooting Fairfield 15-8 and earning 10 more attacking corners, the 25th-ranked Monmouth University field hockey had its six-game win streak snapped as it fell to Fairfield, 3-1, Friday afternoon at University Field. 

The Stags broke the ice in the 14th minute and converted again five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into the break.  Fairfield added to their lead in the 61st minute off a penalty corner before Mallory Kusakavitch tipped in a shot off a corner with 3:06 left for the Hawks' lone score.

Senior goalkeeper Christen Piersanti made three saves in over 64 minutes of play.

- Mallory Kusakavitch notched her fifth goal of the season to increase her career-high total.
- Julie Laszlo increased her point streak to eight games with an assist.
- Four of the Hawks' shots reached cage as Stags' goalkeeper Caitlin Gilligan made three saves and received help from the post.
- Laszlo finished with a team-high six shots, while Kusakavitch and Rachel Konowal each contributed three.
- Monmouth earned double-digit corner opportunities for the fourth time this season with 12.
