EDISON, NJ – For the second time this season, junior forward
Kelly Hanna was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. The second-year Hawk registered her seventh goal of the year in the Hawks' MAAC-opening victory over Sacred Heart on Friday.
Hanna, one of four Hawks to score against the Pioneers, had six shots on the afternoon. The Seaville, NJ native scored MU's third goal of the opening half in the 19th minute when she received a pass from
Julie Laszlo, cut to her left, stopped, spun and deposited a shot high into the netting to help Monmouth extend its winning streak to six games.
Hanna and the Hawks, who are ranked 25th in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches' Poll, return to play this upcoming weekend with a pair of road games. On Friday, October 6th, the MU will travel to Fairfield for a 4 p.m. meeting with the Stags before traveling to Hempstead, NY for a 1 p.m. tilt with Hofstra.
