FAIRFIELD, CT – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams dropped their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opening meet to Fairfield on Saturday afternoon at Leslie C. Quick RecPlex Pool.
The Hawks finished first in multiple races, including the men's 200-meter medley relay, as well as
Tyler Lutter winning the 50-meter freestyle,
Trevor Askew in the 200-meter breaststroke and Anne Skimmons in the 200-meter IM.
The competition took place in a meter pool, which is longer than the 25-yard pool Monmouth's teams have competed in this season.
NOTES & QUOTESÂ
"Swimming in a 25 meter pool was a challenge the team hadn't seen before. The normal times and splits the team was accustomed to didn't apply to today's meet. We were not as sharp as we had been early in the season, but the team continued to race with great energy."Â
