RALEIGH, NC – Despite several individual wins throughout the day, the Monmouth University men's tennis team was defeated by North Carolina State and Elon on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks fell to NC State by a score of 5-2 in the first match, and were defeated in the second match by Elon, 4-1. Monmouth drops to 0-3 on the season and will play next Saturday and Sunday at the NJIT Invitational.

NOTES

-Nicola Pipoli won his second singles match of the season, with the first coming at No. 2 and today's win against NC State at No. 1.

-Freshman Vikrant Dahiya picked up his first singles win of the season, defeating NC State's Sean Burnette at No. 6.

-In the first doubles match of the afternoon, Przemyslaw Filipek and Ale Gomez Estrada got the win against Ivan and Igor Saveljic, 6-2.

-After winning the first set against Elon, Pipoli dropped the next two, 6-3 and 6-2.

-In doubles competition against Elon, the duo of Filipek and Estrada won their second of the day, defeating Elon 6-4.

-Pipoli and Dahiya also picked up a doubles victory against Elon, defeating Salvador Mijares and Neal Port, 6-2.
