STEPHANIE ANDERSON JOINS WOMEN'S LACROSSE STAFF

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Denise Wescott has announced that former Hawk standout Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham) has been added to the staff.

Anderson transferred to Monmouth prior to the 2014 season, finished first on the team in scoring with 26 goals and second in points with 28 from her attack position. The Rutgers transfer appeared in 17 of Monmouth's 18 games while leading the team in free position goals. Anderson was a pivotal piece to the Blue & White's first year in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, earning All-MAAC Tournament honors.  Academically, she was named to the IWLCA Academic All-Honor Roll and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in School Counseling.

“I am excited about Stephanie joining our staff,” said Coach Wescott. “She did such a great job last year scoring for us, but also helped the attack be more successful as a unit because of her leadership.”

With the Hawks, Anderson will work primarily with the Monmouth attack while aiding in recruiting efforts. Anderson will also coordinate the team's travel and have academic advising responsibilities.

“She has had a lot of experience as a coach working for the Top Gun club program and also local events in Long Island and New Jersey since she was in high school,” said Wescott.” Stephanie reads the game very well, has so much passion for lacrosse, and loves coaching. Her dedication and commitment to improving our program is tremendous, and I love the energy she brings to our practices. We are fortunate to have her stay on at Monmouth and now be a part of our coaching staff.”

Anderson was an All-Big East lacrosse player at Rutgers where she tallied 66 goals and 77 points. She was a prep star for Shoreham-Wading River High School in New York, leading her squad to three consecutive state championships and earning All-America honors. She was chosen to play in the Under Armor All-American Classic, where she was named Most Valuable Player. Anderson played club lacrosse for the Long Island Express and graduated from Rutgers in 2013 with a degree in Sociology while minoring education and public health.
