HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team fell to Hofstra, 22-11, on Saturday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium.
Monmouth moved to 8-6 overall and 1-4 in CAA play, while Hofstra improved to 9-5 and 4-0 in conference action.
Shea Berigan led Monmouth with four goals and an assist, while
Marlaina Grimm,
Brooke Lacey and
Olivia Castaldo each added two goals.
Sophia Lymberis also scored, and
Lauren Rismani paced the Hawks with two assists.
Katie Sullivan made 10 saves in 50:32 of action between the pipes, while
Gia Mitchell added a save in relief.
The Hawks opened the game strong, with Berigan scoring the game's first goal off an assist from Rismani. Monmouth continued to trade goals throughout the opening quarter, as Lacey scored twice, and Grimm added a free-position goal to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead after one.
Monmouth extended its lead early in the second quarter, getting goals from Berigan, Lymberis and Berigan again to push the advantage to 7-4. The Pride responded with a late push, scoring three times in the final minutes of the half to even the score at 8-8 heading into the break.
Hofstra took control in the third quarter, erupting for 10 goals in the frame while holding Monmouth to just one. The Pride scored eight consecutive goals during the stretch to turn a tie game into a double-digit lead.
Castaldo scored early in the fourth quarter to halt the run, but Hofstra answered and maintained control down the stretch to secure the 22-11 victory.

- Shea Berigan scored four goals and had an assist, tallying at least five points in a game for the sixth time this season.
- Berigan is up to 39 goals, setting a new career high. Her 50 points are also a new career-best for the fourth-year Hawk.

- Lauren Rismani added a pair of assists, giving her 48 on the season. She is two helpers short of becoming the first Monmouth player to reach 50 assists in a season.

- Marlaina Grimm scored two goals, finding the back of the net for the seventh consecutive game. Saturday was the freshmen's fifth game this season with multiple scores.
- Grimm scored her team-leading ninth free position goal of the season.
- Brooke Lacey scored two goals, giving her 17 on the season. Saturday was her fifth multi-point effort of 2026.
- Freshman Olivia Castaldo also netted two goals, also her fifth game this season with multiple scores. Castaldo has 16 goals this season.
