Both Perry and Guida scored a run, while Joe Bamford (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional [Northampton C.C.]) had a hit and a run scored.
Frank Trimarco (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) took the loss on the mound in Game 2, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits without walking a batter in 6.1 innings. T.J. Hunt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) was the losing pitcher in Game 1, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits and one walk in 4.1 innings pitched. He struck out five.
Dan Muscatello led Bryant with a 4-for-7 effort on Saturday. He drove in two and scored one run. John Mullen, Robby Rinn and Jordan Mountford added three hits each. Mullen scored three times and drove in two, while Mountford had two runs scored and two RBI's. Rinn scored two runs and drove in one, while Carl Anderson had two hits and a team-high four RBI's.
Craig Schlitter tossed a complete-game shutout in Game 1, scattering seven hits and a walk while striking out four. John Healy also went the distance in Game 2, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk. He struck out four.
In Game 1, the Bulldogs struck for one run in the third, seven in the fifth and one more in the sixth to take a 9-0 lead. A fielding error in the third got Bryant on the board, before nine consecutive Bulldogs batters reached safely in the fifth on seven hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch to account for seven runs. The big hits came in the form of a two-run double from Mullen and a two-run single from Muscatello. Bryant tacked on a run in the seventh on a fielder's choice.
In Game 2, the Hawks took a two-run lead in the second on White's two-out, two-run double to left, scoring Guida and Bamford, both of whom reached on singles earlier in the inning. But the Bulldogs responded to the Hawks' two-out magic with some of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Mountford led off with a single before Trimarco got the next two batters out. Mullen then doubled to put runners on second and third before Anderson delivered a two-run single back up the box to tie the game.
Bryant struck again with two outs in the sixth. Mullen reached on a two-out infield single before Anderson drove a double to right center to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, the Hawks were down to their final out when White came up and drove a single through the right side. Perry advanced to third and scored on a throwing error by the right fielder. But three-consecutive one-out singles by Rinn, Palazzo and Mountford in the bottom of the seventh gave Bryant the walk-off win.
The Hawks conclude their four-game set at Bryant with a nine-inning game tomorrow. First pitch in Smithfield is set for 1 p.m.
