WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University sophomore
Kim Clemmer (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) earned the Northeast Conference's women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
Clemmer, who tallied her second career goal in Monmouth's 2-1 victory over Lehigh on Friday night, played all 93 minutes of the overtime game, notching the game-tying goal in the 54th minute for the Hawks. The defender, who also registered a game-tying goal at Navy last season in the 90th minute of that match, picked up her first career weekly accolade from the conference.
Following Clemmer's game-tying mark, which came 5:38 after Lehigh went ahead, junior
Dana Costello (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) converted on a feed from senior
Nicole Close (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) for the game-winner, in the 93rd minute.
Clemmer, a 2011 Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team selection, has started 23 matches for the Hawks to date.
Monmouth (2-4) returns to action this weekend, when the Hawks play host to Lafayette on Friday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m., and Rider on Sunday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m., on The Great Lawn.
