WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University freshman goalkeeper
Jocelyn McCoy was named the adidas/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, for a second straight week, league officials announced on Monday afternoon.
McCoy, who was tabbed the NEC's Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week last Monday, made eight saves on the weekend, including four in the Hawks' 2-0 shutout against Robert Morris on Sunday. The shutout of the Colonials represented the freshman's fifth clean sheet of the season.
McCoy also made four saves in a 2-1 loss to defending NEC champion Saint Francis (Pa.) two days earlier. The Maryland native now holds 0.69 goals against average, good for first in the league, and also ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.838).
Monmouth, now 5-1 at home on the season, returns to action on Friday, when the Hawks host Quinnipiac University at 4:00 p.m., on The Great Lawn.
