WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - While participating recently in the University of San Diego Tournament, the Monmouth University Baseball team had the privilege to tour the Unites States Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, California. In other words, the team had the opportunity to meet U.S. Navy Seals, handle weapons and tour the obstacle course. On the visit, several Seals spoke about their experiences that included; how they became a Seal, the training program a Seal must go through and the comradery of being part of an elite team.
Head Coach Dean Ehehalt felt it was a great experience for the team, and after the visit he stated, "Without a doubt the most unique team activity we have ever had the chance to be involved in. Every member of our team could not stop talking about the visit and the individuals that spoke to us. It was an extremely inspiring team activity and one that our players will remember for a long time."
Long time assistant coach, Jeff Barbalinardo commented on the trip as well, stating "The U.S. Navy Seals are involved in a very active recruiting process that is very attractive to college athletes who love to compete at the highest level. It is awesome that the Lieutenant Commander on many evening news broadcasts is talking to our team about what these guys do."
