KINNE NAMED A NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR SEMIFINALIST

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University men's soccer standout Ryan Kinne (Naugatuck, Conn. /Naugatuck) has been named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in intercollegiate soccer, the organization announced on Friday. This marks the second consecutive year that Kinne has been named a semifinalist for the award.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment. To be a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy two years in a row is an amazing achievement," said Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt. "I could not be more proud of Ryan. He has been a success on the field and also in the classroom.  It has been a joy to watch Ryan's growth and progression over the past four years."

Kinne earned his second straight Northeast Conference Player of the Year award this season, and is one of only two repeat selections among the 15 men's semifinalists for the award, joining Louisville's Colin Rolfe.

Kinne was been the Hawks' most consistent and dynamic offensive force this season, leading the team in goals (12), points (29) and game-winning goals (4), while tying for the team-lead with five assists. The senior captain was ranked in the top-10 nationally in most major offensive categories all season.

Head coaches of Division I programs with current membership in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) will vote to determine the 2010 MAC Hermann Trophy recipient. Three finalists for the award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 10. They will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis for a news conference on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, where the winner will be announced. A dinner and formal presentation of the award will follow the news conference that evening.
