WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University women's soccer program is proud to announce its 2009 team captains, as senior
Brianna Salvia and junior
Ali Kliment were selected to wear the armbands this season.
"We are excited to kick off the '09 season and we will be under strong leadership with Ali and Breezy," commented head coach
Krissy Turner. "They are both veteran players, with tremendous experience on the field. They will serve as excellent ambassadors for our team."
Salvia, a senior defender, started all 19 games for the Blue and White last year, Monmouth's third straight, double-digit win season. The senior has played in 57 career matches, earning starting assignments in 56 of those games.
Kliment, a junior defender, played in just seven matches as a sophomore before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury last year. The back, who has started all 27 matches she has seen time in, has collected a pair of assists for the Hawks.
Monmouth opens its 2009 campaign, in search of its second NEC Championship in the last three years, on Friday, August 28, when the Hawks travel to Williamsburg, Virginia for a meeting with perennial power William & Mary at 7:00 p.m.
