WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- Monmouth's men's track & field team recorded a program best fourth place finish at the Colonial Relays, hosted on the campus of The College of William & Mary. The Hawks scored 65 team points, just three behind third place Bucknell.

William & Mary won the meet, with Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Buffalo, Seton Hall, Georgetown and others competing. After an impressive first day, Vincent Elardo (Forked River, N.J./Lacey) recorded a third place finish in the discus with his throw of 46.07m. Shawn Sabo (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) was sixth in the same event with his mark of 46.03. Freshman Geoff Navarro (Mays Landing, N.J./Absegami) was third in the finals of the 100m, crossing the tape in 10.78. Two MU relay teams placed on the day, with the 4x200 relay team of Chris Vuono (Wall, N.J./CBA), Chris Rutherford (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), Kevin Merrigan (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Chris Taiwo (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive) finishing in second place with their time of 1:27.24. Dave Martell (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern Regional), Navarro, Merrigan and Taiwo combined for a 4x100 time of 41.72, which was third overall. At Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational, freshman Stevenson Cajuste (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor) was eighth in the 110 hurdles with his time of 15.89 while also recording an eighth place long jump. Julio Rodriguez (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) was third in the high jump, clearing 6' 3”. Michael Smith (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) was fifth in the javelin with his throw of 172' 6”. Freshman Jason Timmons (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) placed in the pole vault, clearing 14' 3”.

Monmouth's team will split time between three meets next weekend, with Hawks competing at the UVA Invite, The Bison Outdoor Classic and The Rider Invitational.
