NEW YORK, N.Y.- Monmouth University's track & field team competed on Friday night at the NYU Fastrack Invitational, with a number of Hawks turning in their best performances of the year.
The Hawk 4x800 relay finished third with a time of 9:25.73, missing the ECAC qualifying time by less than half a second. Aracelis Lantigua (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth), Danica Krivanos (Bound Brook, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Laura Embrey (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) and Sarah Frenette (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) comprised that unit.
Throwers Kelly Dantley (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) and Symmone Fisher (Coram, N.Y./Longwood) recorded fifth and sixth place performances in the shot put with marks of 39' 7 ?” and 39' 5”, respectively. Ajda Dotday (Hawthorne, Pa./Hawthorne) was fifth in the 200m, setting a new MU freshman record with a time of 25.39, the fourth best time in school history.
Rookie Lindsey Walsh (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) cleared 5' 5” in the high jump, her best mark of the season. Christine Altland (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) was 11th in the mile with a time of 5:13.65 while Brittany Gibbs (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) cleared over 38' in the finals of the triple jump.
On the men's side, Julio Rodriguez (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 6' 4 ?”. Victor Rizzotto (Manahawken, N.J./Southern Regional) tallied a fifth place finish in the shot put (49' ?”) and Improta was eighth in the 1000m with his time of 2:32.10. The DMR team of Vin Improta (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Tech), Reggie McLeod (Jersey City, N.J./McNair Academy), Yasser Barr (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) and Ben Hutterer (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch)was sixth with their combined time of 10:31.00. Freshman Geoff Navarro's (Mays Landing, N.J./Absegami) time of 7.02 was ninth in the 60m. Barr claimed 15th in the 800m.
The Hawks are off to the ECAC and IC4A Division I Championships next weekend in Boston.
