WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University baseball team captured the regular season championship and top seed in this week's Northeast Conference Tournament, despite the rainout on Sunday at Long Island. Monmouth, 20-5 in the league this season, wrapped up its first regular season title since 2002.

Monmouth (35-14 overall) will face No. 4 seed Mount St. Mary's at noon on Thursday in game one of the 2008 NEC Tournament at Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City.
