FOUR HAWKS NAMED TO 2007 ALL-REGION TEAMS IN DIVISION I MEN'S SOCCER

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University, which finished in third place in the North Atlantic Region, placed four players on 2007 NSCAA/adidas Division I All-North Atlantic Regional Teams, as senior Damon Wilson (Swedesboro, N.J./St. Andrew's) was named first-team all-region. Seniors Tom Gray (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and Michael Millar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) and sophomore Daniel Bostock (Nottinghamshire, England) were all honored as second-team performers.

Monmouth claimed its third straight Northeast Conference regular season championship in 2007, as the Hawks have posted a 20-2-5 league mark over the past three years. The Blue and White, under three-time NEC Coach of the Year Robert McCourt, has registered a 36-13-11 overall record during that span, earning one NEC Championship, an NCAA Tournament appearance, a No. 15 national ranking, and a win over No. 16 North Carolina to open the 2007 campaign.

“It is great to see these players get noticed by coaches we have played against,” said McCourt. “We had another successful season and these players have been the cornerstone of our success. Their recognition is a direct reflection of the entire team's dedication to the program. I am proud of the way they have competed all season.”

Wilson led the Hawks in scoring, tallying 20 points on a team-best seven goals and six assists. The forward, who scored the game-winning goal in the Hawks' 2006 NEC title game win over Saint Francis, netted two game-winning goals in 2007, including the lone tally against No. 16 North Carolina.

Millar, a first-team All-NEC performer in the midfield, finished the season with a goal and three assists.

Gray, followed up his first-team all-league and first-team all-region season as a junior with 16 points on six goals and four assists. A second-team all-league selection, who opened the season on the Hermann Trophy Watch List, ended his Monmouth career with 25 assists.

Bostock, as second-team All-NEC defender, made an immediate impact on the Hawks' backline in his first season. The sophomore, who helped Monmouth post a 0.71 goals against average on the year, added a goal, the game-winner against Saint Francis to clinch the regular season championship, and an assist.

Monmouth won back-to-back-to-back Northeast Conference regular season titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The Hawks finished the season with a 12-5-2 record and pushed its then-unbeaten streak in conference play to 24 games.
