Michelle Losey (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) highlighted a strong team performance by breaking the school record in the 400m at the NYU Fastrack held at the 168th St. Armory on Friday night.
Losey's time of 56.14 in the 400m set the MU school record while taking first place in the event. Graduate student Craig Segal (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) qualified for next weekend's IC4A's after taking eighth in the 3000m with a time of 8:29.18.
Latasha Dickson (Aberdeen, N.J./Matawan) had a first place finish in the 500m, finishing in 1:15.22, while Illiana Blackshear (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) was fifth in the same event, crossing the finishline in 1:17.47.
In the throws, Christian Keller (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) took first in the shot put with a toss of 53' 10 1/4", with Larry Lundy's (Friendsville, Pa./Montrose Area) toss of 50' 5 1/2" finishing fourth. Keller took second in the weight throw with a toss of 61' 3", while Lundy finished fourth with his throw of 55' 1".
In the pole vault, junior Nikki Zwartjes (Burlington, N.J./Burlington) tied her own school record once again this season with a vault of 11' 3 3/4". Christine Fatale (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) finished sixth in the same event, clearing a distance of 10' 4". Senior Fabrice St. Elme (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) took home a third place finish in the 60m, crossing the line in 6.91. He also placed sixth in the high jump with his leap of 6' 5".
Sophomore Ryan Madrid (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic) was seventh in the 1,000m, finishing in 2:31.93 while freshman Chris Taiwo (Budd Lake, N.J./Mt. Olive) had a triple jump distance of 41' 1 3/4". Senior Asha Arneth (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) was eighth in the 1000m, with her time of 3:02.63. Rookie Brittany Gibbs (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) took fifth in the triple jump for the women with her distance of 36'6 3/4".
On Saturday senior Ashley Huffman (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) competed at the U.S. Indoor Championships, taking 11th place while former Hawk Tisifenee Taylor, jumping unattached, took home ninth place.
