RICHMOND, Va. – Monmouth University Men's Lacrosse senior
Ty Caffarelli was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon, following a record-setting performance in the Hawks' season-opening win at Manhattan.
Caffarelli set the Monmouth single-game program record with seven goals in a 15-9 victory over the Jaspers on Friday, Feb. 6, at Gaelic Park. He finished the afternoon with seven points to lead all scorers and currently tops the CAA in both goals and points. The California native tallied goals in every quarter, scoring three times in the first, once in the second, twice in the third and once more in the fourth. He posted a game-high 12 shots, including 10 on goal, as Monmouth pulled away early and never trailed after the opening quarter.
Caffarelli's seven-goal outing broke the previous Monmouth single-game record of six, which had been shared by Cade Stratton (vs. St. Bonaventure, 2021) and Bryce Wasserman (vs. Canisius, 2015).
The Hawks make another trip to New York to take on the Long Island Sharks on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Shark Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row at 1 p.m.
