February 06, 2026

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Monmouth softball opened the 2026 season with a split on Friday at Wofford Softball Stadium, rolling past IU Indy 10-2 in the opener before dropping a 9-4 game to host Wofford in the nightcap.

GAME 1: MONMOUTH 10, IU INDY 2
Monmouth softball turned in a complete performance on both sides of the ball in the first game of the day, defeating IU Indy 10-2 in five innings behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching.

The Hawks struck early in the season opener and never looked back, scoring three runs in the first inning. Ella Stevinson crossed the plate for Monmouth's first run of the season after drawing a walk, and Bri Lawson followed with a two-RBI single up the middle to cap the opening-frame scoring.

IU Indy was held scoreless through the first two innings before pushing across its first run in the third to make it 3-1. Monmouth quickly responded in the bottom of the inning as Mackenzie Bloss launched a solo home run to extend the Hawks' lead back to three.

Monmouth continued to apply pressure at the plate, posting three-run innings in both the fourth and fifth innings to secure the run-rule victory and the first win of the 2026 season.

In the circle, Alissa Eimont delivered an impressive debut for the Hawks, allowing just one earned run while striking out a game-high four batters to earn the win.

GAME 2: Wofford 9, Monmouth 4
The Hawks once again jumped out to a strong start in game two, as Kaitlynn Place blasted a grand slam in the top of the second inning to give Monmouth an early 4-0 advantage. Wofford responded, however, scoring nine unanswered runs to claim the victory.

The Terriers cut the deficit to two in the bottom of the second with a double and a sacrifice fly before keeping Monmouth off the board in the third. Wofford then tied the game at four in the fourth inning behind a pair of consecutive singles.

The decisive blow came in the bottom of the fifth, when the Terriers plated five runs. A double put Wofford ahead 6-4, and the home team would hold the lead for the remainder of the contest to secure the win.
