No. 14 Monmouth Rallies Past Maine, 3–2

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 3 (7-1)
Maine 2 (3-5)

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – No. 14 Monmouth pulled out a gritty 3-2 comeback win over Maine on Friday afternoon at So Sweet a Cat Field.

The Hawks overcame an early two-goal deficit after Maine jumped ahead in the second quarter. Following a scoreless first, the Black Bears struck in the 19th minute as Olivia Geniti found the back of the cage. Just two minutes later, Martha Baratt capitalized on a rebound off a penalty corner to double Maine's lead, putting Monmouth on its heels.

But the Hawks responded with urgency. Keely Bowers got Monmouth on the board in the 23rd minute with a goal off a penalty corner, assisted by Lauren Relik and Hannah Tromble. The momentum shift continued just two minutes later, when Claire Campen netted the equalizer in the 25th minute.

Only a minute after that, Ava Zerfass scored what would be the game-winner—her second game-winning goal of the season—beating her defender down the right side and slotting the ball home.
Despite scoring flurries early, both teams had chances late in the game but struggled to capitalize. The score remained 3-2 through the final whistle.
