RICHMOND, Va. – Three members of the Monmouth University baseball team were honored as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its end of the year awards, voted on by the league's head coaches.

Jay Bant and freshman
Ryan Mealy all took home Second Team All-CAA honors. In addition, Mealy was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team. It is the most honorees the Hawks have had since joining the league.Â

Caufield was honored for the first time in his career after starting 47 games at second base. He led the Hawks with a .341 average and 44 runs scored. Caufield ranked among the top 10 in the CAA for on base percentage (.446) and triples (3).

Caufield led the Hawks with 23 multi-hit games and reached base safely in 32 straight games. He had a 15-game hit streak that stretched from mid-February until mid-March.Â

Bant was honored for the first time in his career after a breakout season at DH. He played in 50 games and hit .333. Bant led the Hawks with 65 hits, 58 RBIs and seven home runs. He ranked second in the CAA in RBIs and tied for third in doubles (17).

Bant was responsible for two of the Hawks' three walk off wins after hitting home runs against Saint Peter's and Delaware. He led the Hawks with 16 multi-RBI games, including a season-high six at Georgetown.Â

Mealy had a stellar freshman campaign for the Hawks. He went 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 68.1 innings of work. He ranks among the top in the CAA for ERA and in CAA only games for ERA, innings pitched and wins.Â

Mealy moved into the starting rotation for CAA play and threw a complete game shutout in the Hawks' Sunday win at North Carolina A&T. He struck out a season-high 10 batters in that win and was named the CAA Rookie of the Week afterwards. Mealy was part of another shutout for the Hawks as he tossed six shutout innings in the win over Elon.Â
