The Hawks remained competitive early against the Blue Hens, forcing pitcher Morgan Hess to throw 82 pitches and putting runners on base in multiple innings. Sophomore Live Smith led Monmouth's offense by drawing two walks and reaching base twice, while Clare Picone added another free pass and has reached base in five of the last six games.
