TOWSON, MD. – Izzy Bonacci tossed her second complete game of the weekend and Monmouth scored in four different innings to cap the weekend with a 4-2 win over Towson on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. With the win, the Hawks picked up their second CAA series road victory of the 2025 season and third overall.
Â
Bonacci (3-6) was brilliant in the circle, scattering seven hits over a full seven innings of work while striking out five and allowing just one earned run. The sophomore right-hander once retired nine straight Tigers in the middle innings and needed just 95 pitches to complete the game.
Â
Monmouth's offense struck early as
Liv Smith singled as the game's second batter and was later driven in on a Bonacci single. After Towson took the lead after two, the Hawks quickly responded to tie things up on a single to center by freshman catcher
Clare Picone, plating sophomore shortstop
Giana Scotti.
Â
Tied at two in the fourth,
Kylee McLain,
Gianna Stern, and
Isabella Slape all singled to load the bases for Scotti. Scotti was hit by a pitch to drive in the go-ahead run. Monmouth added insurance in the sixth after Slape, who collected her first multi-hit game of the season, reached on a two-out knock. Scotti then walked, and Smith followed with an RBI single.
