TOWSON, MD. – Behind a stellar complete-game performance from Izzy Bonacci and a clutch late-inning rally, Monmouth University Softball secured a 4-2 road victory over Towson on Friday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

The Hawks scored all four of their runs over the final two innings, kickstarted by a two-out two-run single by senior centerfielder Lexi Castaneda in the top of the sixth. After Towson cut the deficit in half in the bottom half, Clare Picone and Bonacci each delivered RBI doubles in the top of the seventh for extra insurance. The Tigers got another run back in the final frame and were able to put the tying run on base, but Bonacci shut the door with a game-ending strikeout.

In just her second CAA start, Bonacci (2-6) was excellent in the circle, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits while striking out five in a full seven innings of work – marking her first career complete game at the Division I level. Her five strikeouts were also a career high.
