Mealy Named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week

April 14, 2025

RICHMOND, Va. – After throwing a complete game shutout at North Carolina A&T, Monmouth University baseball freshman Ryan Mealy was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Rookie of the Week by league officials.

Mealy was honored for the first time in his career. He is the second Hawk to be honored by the CAA this season (Jay Bant-Mar. 17).

Making just his fourth start of the season, Mealy was in control from the start. He retired the first nine batters he faced and scattered six hits over the nine innings of work.

Mealy finished with 10 strikeouts in the contest which is the most by a Hawk this season. It also marked the fifth time this season a CAA pitcher has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game.

He is the first Hawk to throw a complete game since 2021 and the first to throw a nine-inning complete game since 2019.

Mealy and the Hawks host Rutgers on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 3 p.m.
