Padden Homers in Monmouth's Loss to UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – Harry Padden hit his first home run of the year as the Monmouth University baseball team fell to the University of Central Florida (UCF), 18-3 on Saturday evening.
 
UCF got the scoring started with a run in the third on a balk.
 
The Knights scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth and extended its lead to 4-0.
 
Monmouth broke onto the scoreboard in the sixth as Padden launched a solo shot to left center with two outs. 
 
UCF responded with seven runs on six hits in the bottom half of the sixth and extended its lead to 11-1. Lex Boedicker had a three-run home run for the Knights. 
 
The Hawks struck for two more in the top of the seventh. Chris Walsh led off with a single and came around to score as Shane Dux reached on a fielder choice. Kenny Noe had an RBI single in the frame that scored Dux and made it an 11-3 game. 
 
UCF added three runs in the seventh and fourth in the eighth to close out the 18-3 win.

NOTES 
- It was the 26th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Knights. UCF leads the series 22-4. 
- Harry Padden and Casey Caufield each extended their hit streaks to nine straight games. 
- Kenny Noe and Aidan Watson picked up their first career hits in the contest.
- Padden's home run was his first of the year and 11th of his career. 
- Four Monmouth pitchers combined for five strikeouts. It was the 11th time in 13 games that the Hawks have registered five or more strikeouts in a game.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Casey Caufield had a pair of base hits for the Hawks. He has recorded multiple hits in three straight games and seven times this season. 
- Caufield registered his team-leading sixth steal of the season. The six steals are a career-high in a season for Caufield.
-  Wiley Hartley earned the win for UCF after going 5.2 innings and allowing one run while striking out four.
- Tommy Kent suffered the loss for the Hawks after giving up four runs on six hits in 4.1 inning of action.
