Monmouth Falls in Series Finale at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Central Florida (UCF) earned an 8-0 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Knights opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a Lex Boedicker sac fly, that made it a 1-0 game. 
 
UCF added two runs in the second and increased the home team's advantage to 3-0. 
 
Monmouth had a chance in the third as Harry Padden and Casey Caufield had back-to-back singles, but UCF got the final out of the inning. 
 
Austin Beard entered the game for the Hawks in the bottom of the third and turned in a solid performance as he retired six of the first seven batters he faced. 
 
UCF used an RBI single from Edian Espinal to increase its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth. 
 
The Knights scored four times in the bottom of the eighth and closed out the 8-0 win.

NOTES 
- It was the 27th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Knights. UCF leads the series 23-4. 
- Harry Padden and Casey Caufield each extended their hit streaks to 10 straight games. 
- Padden's 10 game hit streak is a career-high while Caufield's is one shy of his career-high (11-2022).

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Austin Beard pitched a season-high 4.1 innings out of the bullpen. 
- Beard's two strikeouts in the contest tied his season-high.
- Harry Padden had two hits for the Hawks. It was his fifth game of the season with multiple hits in a game.
- Tony Dichiara was hit by a pitch while pinch-hitting. He has now reached base in five of his six plate appearances this season.  
- Dom Stagliano earned the win for UCF as he went six innings and allowed just four hits.
- JD Greeley took the loss for the Hawks after giving up three runs in 2.2 innings.
